Our Wax Bars are made up of different grades and particulate sizes of Aluminium Oxide and Chromium.
This highly abrasive material is then rubbed onto and embedded into the fitted Cow Hyde leather strop.
When the freshly ground blade edge is wiped across the charged strop it breaks the particles down and in the process microscopically abrades and polishes.
Resulting in a superior long lasting edge.

This system is utterly fantastic for keeping chisels and plane irons sharp, quickly, and consistently. The one caveat is getting them sharp the first time. Taking a dull, chipped, or off-angle blade through the process, first the primary angle and then the secondary is a slow tedious frustrating experience. That is because there are much faster methods out there for initial sharpening. Now that I have all my tools sharp it is an easy pleasure to keep them that way. I would also gladly pay twice or more for this system to be upgraded. Ball bearing no slop carriage system, and a tool holding jig to eliminate operator error would be great starters.

excellent aid. An excellent aid. I never used to need one of these but with increased age my eyesight is not good enough for really high precision. This clever device compensates very well for my failing. Works well, good design, robust and well fit for the purpose.

This is an awesome tool, because it is very convenient to set up and very easy – foolproof – to use. For example today, when I noticed a chisel wasn’t as sharp as I’d prefer it. Typically, I’d make due with the chisel as is (not a great idea). But because the alternative would be to set up an entire sharpening activity, which would distract me because I’d end up pulling out all my chisels; it would be a whole project of its own. Instead, I just pulled out the sharpener bag and in a couple of minutes I had the chisel tuned up enough to get back to work without losing focus. Caveat: I haven’t yet tried it out for a “full” sharpening effort (that is, running through a range of grits to repair a chisel rather than the touch up I did today).

The best sharpener for chisels – I have tried a variety of other sharpening devices but could never get the bevel of the grind correct. My bevels had a curve in them and I just couldn’t get it right. I was hesitant to buy this because of the cost but am glad I did. I now have chisels with a flat bevel and an edge that is sharp enough to shave edges from a sheet of paper. This is the best investment I have made in a tool. For anyone who is as OCD as I am about the quality of their tools, I heartily recommend this sharpener.

Thank you for your great products and outstandingly service. – I have the new upgrade kit for the Fasttrack, and it makes a big difference. Please fee free to use this idea. I screwed mine into a wooden dowel and putinto a dog hole, makes it solid as a rock. An improvement would be a pin you could remove fron the dowel for storage.
