MESSING WITH…ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY
In 978 AD, Æthelred the Unready was late for his first title bout against the Danish King, Sweyn Forkbeard. (Cool name)
In 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand took a wrong turn in Sarajevo, one of history’s most consequential navigation errors.
In 1974, the first barcode was scanned on a retail product, a pack of chewing gum. Fifty years later, we’re scanning or QR coding everything.
In 1950, the US saw it’s first colour television broadcast. Before then people had to imagine what colour a seriously sharp plane iron was.
